Regine Velasquez-Alcasid proved for a second night that not only can she still fill an arena, as seen in her sold-out concert, but she also remains more than deserving of her title as Asia’s Songbird, even as she sang some of her hits live for the last time.

During the second night of her “Finale” concert on Sunday, Velasquez earned a standing ovation as she belted songs she has decided to retire, such as “What Kind of Fool Am I?”, following changes in her voice due to aging.

“I have never stopped performing since I was 17 years old it’s kinda like saying goodbye to a part of me,” she said during her opening message.

Her husband, Ogie Alcasid, meanwhile, assured her on stage after their duet of “Hanggang Ngayon” that she is the Philippines’ “greatest singer.”

“I want you to know you are the greatest singer of this beloved country of ours. And you say this is your finale, that is between you and your God, pero hindi magkakaroon ng finale ang pagmamahal ng mga [tao],” he said.

Apart from their husband-and-wife duet, Velasquez also performed a segment that featured love songs written by Alcasid, such as “Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka” and “Pangako.”

Another guest star who thrilled the crowd was singer-songwriter Jose Mari Chan, who joined Velasquez on stage for “Please Be Careful With My Heart.”

Asia’s Songbird credited the timeless love song, which they released in 1989, as the first-ever duet she recorded.

ormer “Do Re Mi” co-stars Mikee Cojuangco and Donna Cruz again reunited with Velasquez for a nostalgic production number.

Other returning performers included her son, Nate, their family band Meet Me at the Elevator, and DNA.

While Velasquez is set to slow down after the third and final night of her “Finale” concert later Monday, the singer clarified she is not fully retiring and will still perform for certain events. (A. Cerezo/abs-cbn )
