And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:32 NKJV
At the arraignment of Jesus before Pilate, He said in John 18: 37 & 38,… I was born and came into the world is to testify to the truth. Everyone on the side of truth listens to me.”
38 “What is truth?” retorted Pilate…. If Pilate waited and asked more revelation about truth, Jesus would have told him more about the truth that is in God, but he did not pursue the answer to his query. Instead he turned and told the unbelieving Jews, “ I find no fault in Him at all.”
The problem with many of the Jews in Jesus’ day was their wrong concept about the Messiah. They believed that the Messiah was going to free them from their bondage to the Romans. John the Baptist told the people, “Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world”. That was the purpose God the Father’s purpose in sending Jesus into this world. In John 3: 16, Jesus told Nicodemus, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Satan has enslaved humanity by causing Adam and Eve to sin, but because God love us so much, He sent a Redeemer in the person of His Son Jesus to die for us so that if we believe in Him we would not perish but have eternal life. That is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. In fact, when man sinned, God said to Satan in Genesis 3:15 NIV And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel.”
God preached that promise to the guilty in the Garden, when they were cowering in fear and shame. It wasn’t man calling to God, but God came looking for them, saying, “Adam, where are you?”
The best description of the Redeemer and Saviour of us sinners is found in Isaiah 53. It is too long to quote it here, but verses 3-5 will say it all about Jesus. “He is despised and [a]rejected by men, A Man of [b]sorrows and acquainted with [c]grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4 Surely He has borne our [d]griefs And carried our [e]sorrows; Yet we [f]esteemed Him stricken, g]Smitten by God, and afflicted.
5 But He was wounded[h] for our transgressions, He was [i]bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes[j] we are healed.
That my friends, THE TRUTH, THE WHOLE TRUTH, AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH ABOUT JESUS, OUR LORD.
But friends be glad. The end of Satan and all that do evil is found in Revelation 20: 10 and Malachi 4: 1, when Satan and all that do is cast into the lake of fire and brimstone and burned to ashes.”
