The Ateneo Alumni

Association of British Columbia (AAABC) has elected a new board of directors, ushering in a new chapter of leadership focused on strengthening the Ateneo community in British Columbia and fostering greater fellowship among alumni.

Leading the newly elected board is Heidi Ng, who has been elected President, with Amado Mercado III serving as Vice President.

The new leadership team brings together Ateneans committed to continuing the association’s tradition of friendship, service and community involvement while creating more opportunities for alumni to reconnect and support one another.

Under Ng’s leadership, the association is expected to build on its growing presence within the Filipino-Canadian community and strengthen its programs and activities for Ateneans across British Columbia. The AAABC has been active in bringing alumni together through social, cultural and community events, including its participation in major Filipino-Canadian gatherings and celebrations.

Ng, who has been actively involved in the Ateneo community in British Columbia, has emphasized the importance of bringing Ateneans together in the spirit  of being “men and women for others” Her leadership is expected to place particular emphasis on fellowship, community engagement and creating meaningful opportunities for alumni to reconnect with one another.

Joining Ng and Mercado on the new board are Maria Poe, Neil Galang, Kriza Sy, Ryan Ferrer, Emir Bautista , Renzy Azcueta, Art Calapatia, Rammy Rodrigo, Jon Sarino, Analou Lagman, Ayo Supangco, Caro Alcuaz, Karen Dandasan, Basille Uy, Luis Dapat, Hilda Gonzales, Rex del Mundo, Marlowe Mercado, Gregorio Angelo de Guzman. 

Together, the new board will oversee the association’s activities and initiatives for the coming term, with the goal of making the AAABC an even stronger network for Ateneans living and working in British Columbia.

The election comes at a time when the Ateneo alumni community in the province continues to grow and actively participate in the wider Filipino-Canadian community. Recent AAABC activities have brought together alumni and supporters for fellowship, including the association’s collaboration with University of the Philippines. 

For many Ateneans, the alumni association represents more than an organization. It serves as a bridge connecting graduates to their shared experiences at Ateneo and providing a venue to build friendships, contribute to the community and carry forward the values of their alma mater.

With Ng and Mercado at the helm, the new leadership is poised to bring renewed energy to the association while continuing the tradition of service and excellence that has long characterized the Ateneo spirit.

The new board is expected to announce its upcoming programs and activities in the coming months, giving Ateneans throughout British Columbia more opportunities to come together and keep the spirit ofAd majorem Dei gloriam, a Latin phrase that means “For the greater glory of God” alive.
