President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. praised the Filipino community in Canada for their hard work and positive contributions to Canadian society, saying they have earned the respect and admiration of the people there.
In his post-visit statement at the end of his official visit to Canada, the President said he was encouraged by the warm reception he received from more than 500 members of the Filipino community who traveled from different parts of the country to meet him.
“I was heartened by their presence and the positive remarks of the Canadian government officials and ordinary Canadian citizens about the Philippine diaspora and how they are very glad and very happy to have the Filipinos that are here in Canada,” President Marcos said.
President Marcos noted that Filipinos in Canada are recognized for their dedication and positive role in their adopted country.
“Filipinos in Canada are widely respected and regarded as a steady and positive force in Canada’s society,” the President said.
President Marcos also assured overseas Filipinos that the Philippine government remains committed to supporting them and recognizing their sacrifices.
“I convey to the Philippine community the Philippine government’s continued support for overseas Filipinos and our appreciation for their continued hard work and dedication to their families and loved ones in the Philippines,” the Chief Executive said.
The President said the success of his visit to Canada was made possible by agreements reached with the Canadian government and the private sector, which are expected to strengthen cooperation across various fields and create more opportunities for Filipinos.
