In a vibrant celebration of Philippine Heritage Month, four community organizations are joining forces for a special cultural event at Surrey City Hall on June 14, 2026, showcasing the richness and diversity of Filipino heritage in British Columbia. Kalinangan ng Sining is the first ever collaboration of four organizations that aim to share Philippine culture through art, music, film and education.
The collaboration brings together Filipino-Canadian Society for Interactive Arts and Events (INaRTe), Himig Kabataan Cultural Society (HKCS), the newly formed Fil-Can Educators Association of BC (FCEABC), and Mixed Media and Music Artists Society of BC (M3ASBC) in a dynamic day of art, film, music, and community engagement, with the support of Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke.
Visitors will be treated to a captivating art exhibit featuring the talented artists of M3ASBC, whose works celebrate Filipino identity, history, and creativity through diverse artistic expressions. Adding a cinematic dimension to the celebration, INaRTe will present “Sine Kalinangan” that highlights short films by various Filipino-Canadian filmmakers. The Filipino stories and voices will offer audiences meaningful reflections on culture and heritage.
The festivities will culminate in a joyful musical celebration entitled “Himig Kalinangan” (Melody of Culture) led by the HKCS Himig Choir Concert, filling Surrey City Hall with beloved Filipino melodies and cultural pride.
As a new partner in this collaboration, FCEABC proudly joins the initiative, affirming its commitment to cultural education, community connection, and the sharing of Filipino traditions with the wider public. Together, these organizations demonstrate the power of unity in celebrating the Filipino spirit in Surrey.
