SURREY, BC — The Filipino community proudly marks a historic milestone as the Mixed Media and Music Artists Society of BC hosts a cultural display booth at Surrey City Hall. This significant achievement highlights the rich heritage, artistic contributions, and growing presence of the Filipino community within the City of Surrey.
Led by President Tony Matias and member Raymon Maliwat, the organization extends its sincere appreciation to the City of Surrey for providing the venue and opportunity to showcase Philippine history, culture, and artwork. The exhibition promotes cultural awareness, inclusivity, and meaningful community engagement while celebrating the diverse cultural fabric of Surrey.
Special recognition is extended to Filipino Canadiancommunity leader Noemi Victorino. Her encouragement and commitment to community development played an important role in helping bring this initiative to fruition.
The opening day attracted a strong turnout, with numerous visitors attending during the first hour of the exhibition. The enthusiastic response reflected the community’s pride and interest in celebrating Filipino heritage and culture.
The organization also acknowledges and thanks several distinguished community leaders and supporters who attended the exhibit, including Rey Fortaleza, Founder and President of Reyfort Media; Randy Bentayen, President of BIBAK; and Ryan Ferrer and Michael Cabal of Inarte Society.
“This milestone represents an important step forward in advancing cultural recognition, artistic expression, and community collaboration,” said the organizers. “As the Filipino community continues to grow and thrive in Surrey, we look forward to creating more opportunities to celebrate our heritage, strengthen community connections, and inspire future generations.”
The public is also invited to attend the expanded version of the gallery exhibition, presented in collaboration with Inarte Society, on Sunday, June 14. (Reyfort Media)
