Flag Raising Ceremony – Celebrating 128th Phil.

On June 6, 2026, despite the heavy rain, the Filipino Canadian community came together for a heartfelt and inspiring Flag Raising Ceremony to commemorate the 128th Anniversary of Philippine Independence. This event served as a powerful reminder of the Philippines’ rich history, the unyielding spirit of freedom, and the strong cultural bonds that connect Filipinos worldwide.

The ceremony united government officials, community organizations, cultural advocates, and residents in a celebration of heritage, diversity, and the friendship between the Philippines and Canada. Attendees proudly witnessed the raising of the Philippine flag, honoring the sacrifices and achievements of countless Filipinos who fought for independence.

We were privileged to welcome esteemed guests, including Premier David Eby, MP Don Davies, MLA Adrian Dix, Deputy Speaker MLA Mable Elmore, Mayor Ken Sim, Councillor Lenny Zhou, Councillor Liza Dominato, Deputy Mayor Sarah Kirby-Yung, Park Board Commissioner Angela Haer, and Consul General Gina Jamoralin, along with numerous leaders from various organizations, community advocates, and volunteers dedicated to enhancing our communities.

As we celebrate 128 years of Philippine independence, we honor the sacrifices of those who came before us while envisioning a future built on collaboration, understanding, and shared success. The event reaffirmed the enduring spirit of the Filipino people and showcased the vital role the Filipino Canadian community plays in shaping the cultural landscape of our province and nation.

Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! Mabuhay ang Filipino Canadian Community!
