Did anyone ever imagine that “Eat Bulaga’s” former “Little Miss Philippines” runner-up Aiza Seguerra would become Direk Ice of the longest-running noontime variety show?
Direk Ice officially started on Wednesday, May 27, as proudly shared on social media by partner Liza Dino-Seguerra.
After “Eat Bulaga’s” official social media post, the former child star also posted an update.
Ice wrote: “It’s my first day on the job!
“I had trouble sleeping the past few days because I was overthinking. While I’m used to directing concerts, live TV is a totally different animal. I still have a lot to learn, but I think today was a good day.”
Direk Ice thanked “Eat Bulaga” boss Jeny Ferre and director Poochie Rivera. It was also the fulfilment of the dream of Direk Ice’s mother, Mommy Caring.
We sent Direk Ice a text message asking how he got the job.
“While we were doing the preps for ‘The Clones’ concert, Ate Jeny asked me if I would be interested in directing episodes of ‘Eat Bulaga.’
“Since it’s been my dream — and Mommy’s dream as well — I readily said yes. They also let me finish my concerts first.”
He is now committed to directing the noontime show every month, although Direk Poochie remains the main director.
How was his first day?
“Nerve-racking. It’s my first live TV directorial job.
“I’m used to directing concerts and taped shows. But since this is live, it requires concentration and presence of mind,” he added.
“But we have amazing people working at ‘Eat Bulaga.’ I learn a lot from them.”
All those years in showbiz helped prepare him for the role.
“My experience with ‘Eat Bulaga’ and my many years in this industry prepared me,” Direk Ice Seguerra enthused. (Malaya)
