On-screen partner Wilbert Ross and Bea Binene are set to headline the Philippine adaptation of the 2013 Thai horror-comedy film “Pee Mak.”
On Saturday, April 18, Viva announced the news during “The Next Fan Takeover,” a fan meet for stars of Viva One original series held at the New Frontier Theater.
The film marks Wilbert and Bea’s first movie together following their pairing in the series “Golden Scenery of Tomorrow.”
Originally starring Thai superstars Mario Maurer and Davika Hoorne, “Pee Mak” remains Thailand’s highest-grossing film of all time.
Wilbert said landing the role felt surreal, noting he had long been nicknamed after Mario’s character.
“Sobrang crazy lang isipin na I’ve been called Pee Mak since I was in high school for the longest time,” Wilbert said in an interview.
He added that the nickname followed him through college and into show business, making the casting feel like something he had unknowingly manifested.
Wilbert also referenced Mario’s earlier hit “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” which contributed to the comparisons.
Viva has yet to announce a release date for the adaptation.
