MANILA, Philippines — Derek Ramsay joins an already star-studded cast led by Piolo Pascual and Cristine Reyes in the continuation of the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) 2024 entry “The Kingdom” on the small screen.
“The Kingdom: Magkabilang Mundo” shows the aftermath of the succession issue explored in the 2024 movie where Vic Sotto’s Lakan faced uncertainty on who among his three children, played by Cristine, Sid Lucero and Sue Ramirez, will inherit his throne.
In the movie, Vic sheds his regular comedian role to play the ruler of Kalayaan, the name of the Philippines in an alternate timeline where the country was never colonized by Western powers.
In the upcoming TV5 series, a wedding and new characters are introduced. Ryza Cenon and Derek Ramsay are teased, with each character uttering a line about their roles in the show.
Cristine’s Matimyas narrates, “Sa bagong yugto, may bagong mukha ng pamumuno.”
Right after her scene, Derek’s character is flashed. He wears a red suit with floral design and sports an intimidating stance as he says, “Ako ang babasag sa bulok na sistemang niyayakap n’yo. Disiplina ang gamot sa kahariang ito.”
The MMFF 2024 movie was produced by APT Entertainment, MQuest Ventures and MZet Television Productions. It won Best Production Design and Best Visual Effects at the annual film festival. (K.A.Llemit/Philstar)
