Longtime finance professional and Filipino community leader Willy Sinconegue is seeking a position on the Richmond School Board in the 2026 municipal election, bringing decades of professional experience and a strong record of community service.
Sinconegue is running as part of the Advance Richmond School Board team. His campaign focuses on student wellness, greater parental involvement, youth mentorship and stronger cooperation between schools and community organizations.
With 47 years of experience in the financing industry, Sinconegue has held numerous leadership and operational positions during his career. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, majoring in Accounting, and became a Certified Public Accountant in the Philippines.
His professional journey also took him to Milan, Italy, where he served as managing director of a financing institution. In that position, he helped strengthen financial operations, improve client services and support the organization’s overall performance.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Sinconegue has remained actively involved in serving the community. He is the incumbent president of the Richmond Bayanihan Society of BC, a non-profit charitable organization he has led for the past six years.
Under his leadership, the organization has expanded programs supporting underprivileged students, encouraging multiculturalism and developing stronger community-support networks throughout Richmond. His service reflects his commitment to fairness, cultural pride and helping families in need.
Sinconegue is also an active member of Couples for Christ and the Knights of Columbus. Through his involvement with faith-based and community organizations, he has worked with families, educators and local groups to help create safer and more supportive environments for young people.
If elected as a Richmond school trustee, Sinconegue hopes to strengthen student wellness programs and promote a safe, welcoming and inclusive culture within local schools. He also wants to encourage parents to become more involved in their children’s education and expand mentorship opportunities that can guide young people away from high-risk behaviour and toward leadership, personal growth and future success.
Sinconegue believes schools achieve better results when trustees, educators, parents and community organizations work together. His candidacy brings together extensive financial knowledge, organizational leadership and many years of dedicated community involvement.
As Richmond voters prepare for the 2026 election, Sinconegue hopes to offer an experienced, collaborative and community-centred voice focused on the well-being and success of every student.
