Instead of throwing a lavish birthday celebration, actress Barbie Imperial chose to spend her special day where her heart truly belongs — her hometown in Bicol.
In a heartfelt social media post, Barbie shared that returning home always brings her peace, describing the province as a place filled with kind people, delicious food and a simple yet soulful way of life. She also reflected on how the majestic Mayon Volcano reminds her to stay grounded and connected to her roots.
“Instead of having a big party, nag-decide kami ng family, friends ko and ni Chard (Gutierrez) na mag gi-give back na lang,” she said in her post.
“Sobrang lakas ng ulan pero tuloy pa rin ang pagbibigay namin ng mga school supplies, medicines, mga pagkain. I’m so excited,” she added.
The actress turned her birthday into a meaningful celebration by giving back to her former grade school and the teachers who, according to her, became her “second parents.”
“Palaging lilingon sa pinanggalingan,” Barbie wrote, expressing gratitude to the educators who believed in her, cared for her and helped shape the woman she is today.
She revealed that it had long been her dream to give back to her school, Maroroy Elementary School, Daraga in Albay — a goal she was finally able to fulfill with the support of her loved ones.
Barbie also thanked God for blessing her with people who continue to surround her with love and kindness, saying she felt incredibly fortunate to experience such overwhelming support during her birthday celebration. (O. ekabar/ Malaya)
