The United Architects of the Philippines – British Columbia Chapter (UAP-BC Chapter), one of three United Architects of the Philippines chapters in Canada, made a strong presence at the recently concluded NATCON 51—the largest annual gathering of Filipino architects—held at the SMX Convention Center Manila from April 16–18, 2026.

The delegation was led by incumbent Chapter President Lyn Bernabe-Ramos, together with former Chapter Presidents Joe Larano Jr. and Guel Climacosa, as well as members currently in the Philippines, including Jasby Barredo and Erich Pablo.

This year’s National Convention, themed “Above and Beyond,” is organized annually by the United Architects of the Philippines. It serves as a vital platform for Filipino architects to connect, exchange knowledge, and explore emerging trends, challenges, and innovations in the field.

During the National Awards Night, the UAP-BC Chapter garnered three major recognitions: Outstanding Foreign-Based Chapter (Group 2), Outstanding Foreign-Based Member (Group 2) awarded to Paolo Galarrita, and Outstanding Foreign-based Chapter President (Group 2) awarded to Lyn Bernabe Ramos.

At the Emeritus Conferment Ceremony, former UAP-BC Vice President for Operations Caesar Pascual was conferred his Emeritus title. He was represented at the ceremony by UAP-BC past president Joe Larano Jr.

Another highlight for the Chapter was the election of past president Joe Larano Jr. as Regional District Director of District B2, which comprises fourteen (14) UAP chapters located in the southern area of Manila, below the Pasig River. In this role, he becomes one of the 22 District Directors serving on the UAP National Board of Directors.

With these achievements, the UAP-BC Chapter has demonstrated its readiness to lead and contribute meaningfully to programs that elevate the role of Filipino architects—both in the Philippines and on the global stage.
