BINI to play at Coachella’s Mojave stage

(UPDATE) Girl group BINI is set to play at the Mojave stage in Coachella this coming Saturday (Philippine time), organizers said Tuesday.

On their official social media channels, Coachella organizers announced the schedule for the first of the two-weekend affair.

BINI is set to perform on the Mojave stage — one of several festival stages — on Friday, April 10, from 4:15 p.m. to 5 p.m. (US time), which corresponds to 7:15 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, local time.

Viewers can follow their historic performance on Coachella’s YouTube channel.

The eight-piece act, dubbed as the “Nation’s Girl Group,” will also perform on April 17 (or April 18 in the Philippines).

Also on Tuesday, the group held their first full technical rehearsal in a studio in Burbank, California, running through their 45-minute set alongside their dancers, audio crew and technical team.

“So far so good,” said member Aiah. “It’s day one of rehearsing back again, ’cause we last rehearsed in the Philippines. We mostly rehearsed the audio, because we really want to sound good and not just look good.”

Gwen said: “As of now may inaayos pa po kami, like ‘yong sa in-ear namin para pagdating doon sa Coachella stage, balanse na siya, siyempre iba po yung set up sa Pinas. Iba ‘yong dati so ina-adjust pa po namin.”

ROLLING STONE FEATURE

But it’s not just Filipinos eagerly anticipating a live performance from the “Pantropiko” hitmakers at the event, as Rolling Stone named BINI among the 20 acts “we can’t wait to see at Coachella.”

In the article, Rolling Stone noted how BINI would “make history as the first Filipino group to perform at the festival.”

“BINI’s vibrant pop songs and animated choreography feel tailor-made for the kind of explosive visual spectacle that Coachella promises year after year,” Rolling Stone’s Larisha Paul wrote.
