BURNABY, BC — More than 75 Filipino youth gathered on March 21, 2026, for the Alapaap 2026 Youth Summit, a groundbreaking, youth-led event organized by the Alliance Philippines BC Youth Delegates (2026). Anchored on the theme “Sky is the Limit,” the summit brought together young leaders for a day of connection, culture, and empowerment.
The event featured community booths, a social mixer, live performances, and a panel discussion, creating a vibrant space where Filipino youth could celebrate identity and shared roots. Highlights included performances by Koro Pacifico, Glisha, and Descent Youth Band, alongside Filipino cuisine from Plato Filipino and freshly baked pandesal and Spanish bread.
A key highlight was the panel discussion featuring Shawna Bundac, Louisa Ledesma, Luisa David, Jamie Burke, and Argel MDR. Each speaker offered insights on personal growth and identity—emphasizing visibility, intentional living, mentorship, and embracing one’s Filipino heritage. Panelists also addressed the importance of overcoming the feeling of “not being Filipino enough,” reinforcing a strong message of belonging within the community.
As the first Filipino youth summit of its kind in British Columbia, Alapaap 2026 proved to be more than just an event—it was a meaningful platform for dialogue, inspiration, and unity.
With its success, organizers and participants alike look forward to building on this momentum, reminding Filipino youth that the sky is not the limit—it is just the beginning.
