TAGBILARAN, Philippines — Eman Bacosa Pacquiao was mobbed by adoring fans during the official weigh-in of “Kumong Bol-anon 24” at the BQ Mall here and then later in the event’s final press conference at the Bohol Provincial Capitol last Friday.

On fight night, the Boholanos came in droves and cheered loudly as the son of the legendary Manny Pacquiao made his way to the ring until the end of the abbreviated match.

The sizable crowd further went wild when Pacquiao’s fellow GMA-7 Sparkle artist Jillian Ward showed up at ringside to support the promising lightweight contender in his scheduled eight-round duel against Reynold Kundimang of Indonesia.

Inspired and motivated, the 22-year-old Pacquiao did not let down those who rooted for him.

He floored the Indon visitor five times en route to a smashing fourth-round technical knockout (TKO) victory in a well-applauded match of the slam-bang card bankrolled by PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions at the Bohol Cultural Center.

“Una sa lahat, gusto ko magpasalamat sa Panginoon na binigyan niya ako nang lakas sa laban na ‘to,” said Pacquiao, moments after stretching his record to 8-1-1 now spiked with five knockouts. “Nagpapasalamat ako sa suporta at pagmamahal ninyong lahat.”

Pressed to answer an intriguing question from the ring announcer during the post-fight interview, Pacquiao gamely admitted that aside from the welcoming arms of the Boholanos, the presence of Ward whom he had a crush with before entering showbiz gave him extra courage to perform remarkably well.
