Award-winning veteran actress and SPEEd Icon awardee Odette Khan is currently confined at the National Kidney and Transplant Institute as she undergoes treatment for pneumonia, emphysema and edema, her family said.
In a recent social media post, her daughter Claudette Avelino-Tandoc disclosed that Khan has been bedridden and recently underwent a procedure to remove fluid from her right lung.
As of Feb. 27, the hospital bill had exceeded ₱211,000, excluding doctors’ professional fees, medicines and caregiving costs.
“We are running out of funds,” Avelino-Tandoc wrote in her appeal, asking for financial assistance from those willing to help shoulder the expenses related to the actress’ hospitalization.
Khan has had a career spanning more than five decades in local film and television and was recognized as a Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) Icon awardee for her contributions to the industry last year. She is known for her contravida roles in television and film, but gained particular recognition for her portrayal of Justice Hernandez in “Bar Boys,” earning multiple Best Supporting Actress awards, and for its sequel, “Bar Boys: After School,” where she won Best Supporting Actress at the 51st Metro Manila Film Festival.
