Surrey, BC – Surrey Libraries is excited to announce acclaimed author Sabina Khan as the 2026 Writer in Residence. Throughout her residency, Sabina will offer free 45-minute writing consultations, in person or online. These sessions are open to writers aged 12 and older and provide an excellent opportunity for personalized feedback and guidance.

“We are delighted to welcome Sabina Khan as our Writer in Residence,” said Lisa Werring, Chair of the Board of Trustees at Surrey Libraries. “Sabina’s impressive body of work and her dedication to nurturing new voices will inspire and support writers across Surrey.”

Sabina Khan is the author of the middle grade fantasy The Bloodstone Thief, and young adult contemporary novels What a Desi Girl Wants, Meet Me in Mumbai, Zara Hossain Is Here, and The Love and Lies of Rukhsana Ali. Her books have earned widespread recognition and praise from readers and critics alike, appearing on notable lists and being acknowledged by major media outlets and literary organizations.

The Writer in Residence program at Surrey Libraries began in 2025 with Anthony Nerada as the debut Writer in Residence. The program was met with tremendous enthusiasm. Anthony conducted 161 consultations and participated in several programs, making a significant impact on Surrey’s writing community.
