Norman Belen is an animator, illustrator, and educator with over 30 years of experience in the arts. He began his career in 1987 after training at Tokyo Movie Shinsha in Japan and later became one of the Philippines’ first 3D animators. His work includes the award-winning animated series Rats 2099: The Young Heroes in Singapore.

On Sunday, February 8, 2026, Norman celebrated his birthday with a 1966 Retro Vintage Birthday Party at The Party Room – Escala Tower in Burnaby. A night of music, great food, and good company with family, friends, and fellow artists.

The celebration brought together friends of Norman and Joan Belen, family members, the Dimasalang III International Artist Group, Circulo Pampangueno officers, and Purple Hearts Entertainment Canada led by Sandra and Rommel Gumboc. Also present were Myrna Pascual and Analyn Dizon Mendoza – for providing the venue, along with special guests Rachel Navales, Phebe Jacobsen, and Mayo Landicho. Live music and jam sessions were enjoyed with Leo Orpilla Cunanan and Larry. Joining the celebration as well were Emir Bautista and family, Amado Mercado Jr. and family, William & Vanessa Orsua, Rovz Canono, Jay and Rizel Celestino, Lina Vargas, Lalaini and Jet Lee, Liza Lucas, Josephine and Ahmad Fard, and many other dear friends.

It was a joyful night celebrating creativity, friendship, and a life well shared. pastedGraphic.pngpastedGraphic_1.png
