MANILA, Philippines — Actress-TV host Anne Curtis announced Wednesday that her father, James Curtis-Smith, has passed away.
Curtis shared the news on social media, posting photos of her father along with a family statement.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected yet peaceful passing of our father, James E. Curtis-Smith. A true patriarch in every sense, he shaped us with strength, resilience, and a wit that will forever echo in our family. He was deeply loved, endlessly admired, and will live on in our hearts always. We will miss him dearly. – The Curtis-Smith Family.”
Curtis-Smith was an Australian lawyer with German, Italian, Irish and English roots. He was married to a Filipina, Carmencita Ojales. Together, they had three children, including Anne Curtis, actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Thomas James Curtis-Smith. He also had several children from previous relationships.
Following the announcement, celebrities and friends sent messages of condolence in the comments section.
“Hayden and I are so sorry to hear about your dad’s passing Anne. I know you’ve been dreading this day would happen . But , you can take solace in the fact that you super duper took care of him and that you did all you could for not only him but your whole family . That’s why I admire you so much,” Vicki Belo wrote.
“Sorry to hear this Anne..Sending all my love. Our prayers and deepest condolences,” Karylle Tatlonghari-Yuzon commented.
