Kapamilya actress Anne Curtis admitted how jealous she is of the economy of Singapore and is hopeful that one day the Philippines will achieve something similar. On her X (formerly Twitter) account, the It’s Showtime host expressed how the Philippines has been robbed of the opportunity to reach its potential due to greed by the corrupt politicians.

Anne is one of the many celebrities that have been vocal about the ongoing anomalies in the government especially with the recent flood control scam.

“Random thought whilst in Singapore – NAKAKAINGGIT SILA. Upon reading, corruption USED to be widespread until they had [their] leader, Lee Kuan Yew, who had [a] zero tolerance policy for corruption,” she wrote.

The Kapamilya star added how Singapore has developed beautifully over the past decades since they had a zero tolerance for corruption. She cited the various innovations and infrastructure the South East Asian country is enjoying.

“Cut to this day, Singapore is thriving. A beautifully developed city, smooth roads, a gorgeous airport, proper public transportation, stunning infrastructure and yet I still see green around the city,” she added.

While there may be corrupt politicians in Singapore, she noted that they are still punished immediately after being discovered–– something she is hopeful that will happen to her own country as well.

“Paano na tayo Pilipinas? Ano na kaya mangyayari? I pray so hard we will all collectively vote for a leader who will want to fight corruption one day. Sana talaga. Sayang … Pilipinas,” she expressed.

Anne maintained that the Philippines have the resources but it is because of greed that the country is robbed from attaining its full potential. While she is hopeful that the Philippines will stop corruption, she acknowledged that she won’t experience it in her lifetime.

“Sana talaga one day. Maybe not in my lifetime but I pray for all the future Filipinos. But we have to stand up for that now. Haaaaay. Naiiyak ako,” she ended.

Fans of the actress expressed their sentiments in the reply section of her post. Most netizens agreed with her and are also hopeful that the country will achieve a zero tolerance for corruption someday.  (D. Acierto/Push Team)
