Self-love is key to building confidence.
Actress Andrea Brillantes shared that loving herself has been her strategy for boosting self-esteem.
“Every day, I just try to be kind to myself. To be a little kinder, to compliment myself, to not be so hard on myself,” Andrea said during an event where she was launched as the first Filipino ambassador of an international clothing brand, last November 19.
“Self-love doesn’t really happen overnight,” she added.
Although many see her as a confident woman, Andrea said she also struggled with self-confidence and self-esteem, especially growing up in the public eye.
The actress emphasized that appreciating one’s own qualities helps them shine.
“You can be the most beautiful girl, pero if that’s not what you see in yourself, hindi din yung magta-translate,” Andrea, who was recently named as Tanduay Calendar Girl, stressed.
“I start with looking at myself in the mirror and saying, appreciating myself na I deserve love, I’m beautiful…I’m a beautiful soul,” she added.
Andrea’s self-confidence shines as she becomes the first Filipino ambassador for the American clothing brand Guess.
For her, representing the brand was truly an honor.
“I’m really honored because I grew up seeing Guess as this iconic local brand. And to be the first local ambassador, it means a lot to me,” she said.
According to Maureen Stamati, executive director of GUESS Philippines, Andrea embodies the brand’s principles.
“Our motto for the brand is young, sexy, adventurous, and timeless. And I feel like those words describe Andrea,” Stamati said.
Aside from introducing Andrea as its new local ambassador, the brand also unveiled its first global store concept in the Philippines.
The concept features modern aesthetics, curated merchandising, and interactive elements designed to engage customers at its flagship store in SM Mall of Asia (MOA) in Pasay City.
Stamati said the MOA branch represents the future of the brand.
“Debuting our first global concept here in Manila shows our confidence in the Filipino market. We’re raising the bar for what customers can expect, from the in-store experience and design to our overall brand energy,” she said.
