The FilCan Helping Hands Society of B.C., a newly formed Filipino community organization dedicated to compassionate service, held its Christmas Dinner and Dance Party on November 22, 2025, at the Victoria Community Hall in Vancouver. The event brought the community together to celebrate the season and acknowledge the Society’s growing efforts to support individuals in need in both British Columbia and the Philippines.

One of the highlights of the evening was the heartfelt message delivered by Vivian Vega, who shared her personal experience during Typhoon Timo in the Philippines. She spoke about the heartbreaking scenes she witnessed—families who lost everything and communities left with nothing. Despite the sadness, she also saw hope. Through the generosity of members of the Helping Hands Society, $800 was raised, and every dollar was sent directly to the victims. She also expressed pride that her daughter, her daughter’s boyfriend, and her niece helped personally distribute relief goods to affected families.

“Thank you for your kindness and for giving hope to people who truly needed it,” she said.

President Mirasol Vega also shared her simple yet meaningful act of giving back during her visits to the Philippines, where she makes it a point to distribute walking canes to those in need. This humble gesture reflects the true spirit of the organization—helping others in every way possible.

The evening’s program emcees by Aldo Endiquez and Ghie Candido Ministro, with performances by Aldo Endiquez, Apple Plata, and Edz Dulatre. Guests were also entertained by the lively dance performances of New Edition and MASSKARA Cultural Society, while music by DJ Rommel Orromeo added to the festive and enjoyable evening.

The FilCan Helping Hands Society believes in building a caring and welcoming community where everyone feels supported. Their mission is to offer guidance, comfort, and assistance to anyone facing hardship – newcomers in B.C., families affected by calamities, and individuals in need of medical help in the Philippines.

With gratitude, the organization looks forward to continuing its work and partnering with others who believe in compassion and community.
