Luna Rivera boasts a significant soccer history, marked by both international representation and consistent success at the youth club level.
Her international career with the Philippine Women’s national team has been notable, particularly with the U17 squad, the “U17 Filipinas.” Rivera has been a part of the U17 training pool since the team’s maiden voyage to AFC qualifications in 2023. This dedication culminated in the team finishing a respectable 4th in Asia in 2024. Most recently in a game versus Malaysia, she scored in the 6th minute and was subsequently chosen as the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for the match. Luna has established herself as a key player, having been named in the starting XI for the Philippines for 11 games. In 2024, she gained valuable international experience by starting and playing against European teams during the Mima Cup in Spain with the U17 Filipinas.
On the club front in British Columbia, Canada, Luna has achieved considerable success. With Coastal FC, she was a part of teams that secured the Youth Provincial Champions title for three consecutive years: 2022, 2023, and 2024. In 2024, her team also earned the distinction of taking home the bronze medal at the PDP Nationals, a tournament which consisted of top teams from each province of Canada. Continuing her development, she transitioned to Surrey United, where she helped the team reach the Youth Provincial Championship Runner-up position in 2025.
Currently, Luna is a selected participant in the BC Soccer program, demonstrating her status as one of the top emerging players in the province. She plays for the 2009 Surrey United BCSPL team and has also been called up for the Metro Women’s Soccer League with the older 2008 Surrey United team, highlighting her advanced skill and potential. She is currently in grade 11 at Earl Marriott Secondary School in Surrey.
