Surrey, B.C. – As a tribute to Canada’s veterans, the City of Surrey has unveiled a new commemorative crosswalk in the 17500-block of 57 Avenue in Cloverdale, adjacent to the Royal Canadian Legion. The crosswalk is painted in red and white and features a silhouette of a kneeling soldier beside a maple leaf, with the words “Lest We Forget” written across it.

“Every November, we pause to remember those who served and sacrificed for Canada,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “This crosswalk in the colours of our flag is a visible tribute to their courage and dedication. As we pass it, let us reflect on the values that built our country: service, unity, and resilience.”

The commemorative crosswalk is part of the City’s efforts to honour veterans ahead of the Remembrance Day ceremonies on Tues, Nov. 11. The largest one in the city will take place at Veterans Square (17710 56A Ave.), presented by the Royal Canadian Legion Cloverdale Branch. The City invites residents to attend and join in to pay tribute to the people who have served and sacrificed for our country.
