Dear Mayor Ken Sim and Members of Vancouver City Council,
Warm Christian greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
On behalf of Word of Hope Church, we write to express our heartfelt support for Mayor Ken Sim’s motion to establish a Filipino Cultural Centre in Vancouver. As it is written in Proverbs 11:25, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” We believe that this initiative reflects a spirit of generosity and inclusivity— values that align with both our faith and the heart of our community.
The Filipino people have long been a vibrant and hardworking part of Vancouver’s diverse family. Establishing a Filipino Cultural Centre will provide a place to celebrate our Godgiven heritage, strengthen community bonds, and inspire future generations to walk in unity and gratitude for the blessings of multiculturalism. In 1 Corinthians 12:12, the Apostle Paul reminds us that, “Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ.” We see this same truth reflected in the City of Vancouver—many cultures, yet one community.
The Filipino Cultural Centre will stand as a testament to this unity in diversity. Word of Hope Church fully supports this motion and is prayerfully committed to standing with our leaders and community partners to make this vision a reality.
May the Lord continue to bless you, Mayor Sim, and the entire Council with wisdom and compassion as you lead this great city toward greater harmony and understanding.
