“Asia’s Songbird” Regine Velasquez touched the hearts of many Filipinos after expressing her intent to order from a pastry business owner who had shared her disappointment over not reaching the “break-even” point at a bazaar.
The term break-even refers to the stage where a business’ costs and income are equal, resulting in neither profit nor loss.
An online user on X (formerly Twitter) shared a screenshot of Regine’s comment to Toni Morales of Sweet Tones by Toni, a business that sells chocolates and pastries.
“The way Ate @reginevalcasid uplifts others, even small business owners. KAYA MAHAL NA MAHAL KITA EH,” the X user commented with emojis of a sparkling heart, crying face, and a pleading face.
The post has so far garnered over 7,300 likes, 437 reposts, and more than a dozen comments on X.
The TikTok video referenced in the post showed Toni initially expressing her disappointment over not meeting her sales goals at the bazaar. Toward the end of the clip, she became emotional and was seen in tears.
“First bazaar na ‘di ako naka-break even. Iniisip ko na agad paano ‘yung extra stocks ng cakes and chocolates, overhead, pasahod and etc,” the text on video reads.
“Reality naman ng business, it’s not always UP, may mga down din talaga. First time ko rin na-experience, kaya na-overwhelm ako,” she added.
“Pero babawi ako! Kaya ‘to! Will be selling extra stocks online later and tomorrow,” Toni continued.
“Hangga’t may pasahod lang, okay na,” Toni captioned the post.
Regine then expressed intent to order from Toni’s business.
“Hello, I’m wondering if you take orders for Christmas?” the singer commented.
Her comment received over 45,000 likes from TikTok users, with many Filipinos expressing admiration for her kindness and support toward the small business owner.
“OMG, Ate Reggg, kaya mahal na mahal ka namin. [You’re] so very kind,” a TikTok user wrote.
“Omg, Ms. Regine,” another commented.
“Omg, napaka-supoortive talaga ni ate,” a different Pinoy said.
The comment also caught Toni’s attention and she replied, “OMG, yes po,” accompanied by a heart emoji.
