MANILA — Actress Angel Locsin broke her social media silence to speak up about the devastating floods that hit Cebu during Typhoon Tino’s onslaught. I
n a rare online post, Locsin expressed sympathy for affected residents and questioned whether the disaster could have been prevented, urging authorities to investigate the cause of the severe flooding.
“Not another one Hoping everyone in Cebu is safe,” Locsin wrote in a post on X.
“Are we all thinking the same — is it just because of the rain, or because something could’ve been done to prevent it? Hope authorities look into this as well so it doesn’t happen again. Wishing our kababayans a quick recovery and safer days ahead,” she added.
On Wednesday, Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro admitted that all flood control projects in the province since 2019 were either ghost or substandard, as she lamented the flash flooding in the Central Visayas island.
Last September, Locsin also broke her social media hiatus to join calls for accountability over alleged corruption linked to government-funded flood control projects. She made the statement as thousands of Filipinos attended staged protests nationwide to denounce alleged corruption in public works projects. (R. deveza/abs-cbn)
