Today, Finance Minister François-Philippe Champagne presented Budget 2025, in which the government announced its support for the Filipino Community and Cultural Centre in Metro Vancouver.
This builds on work done by the provincial Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, and Sport, as well as the City of Vancouver, which will present a motion supporting the project later this month.
In response, Warren Dean Flandez, Chair of the Filipino Legacy Society, said: “Today’s announcement sends a clear message: It’s time to build the Filipino Community and Cultural Centre. The Filipino Legacy Society has worked to create a broad coalition of organizations that represent our diverse community, and we are grateful to see the Government of Canada add its support.
We look forward to working with all levels of government to ensure that B.C. ‘s Filipino community has a place where we can celebrate and honour our culture.”
