Anne Curtis voiced her frustration on social media after a report revealed that only 22 new classrooms were completed this year out of the government’s 1,700-classroom target.
On Instagram Stories, the actress reposted a report citing DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon, who disclosed the figures during the Senate Committee on Finance’s deliberations on the agency’s proposed 2026 budget on Monday, October 20.
“Ano na?! Classrooms are needed so badly for children. [Especially] in regions that struggle the most!” she wrote.
Vince recently assumed the post of Public Works Secretary in September after Manuel Bonoan stepped down. He called the present pace of the classroom construction “deplorable” as per report by PhilStar Global.
He noted that the department will look into why the classroom projects were stalled, whether because of funding issues or procedural bottlenecks. He also committed to work with Education Secretary Sonny Angara to identify ways to accelerate the rollout.
Anne has been vocal in her support of efforts to fight corruption.
On September 21, she joined thousands in the Trillion Peso March protest at EDSA alongside Vice Ganda, Ion Perez, Jasmine Curtis-Smith, Donny Pangilinan, Darren Espanto, and Jackie Gonzaga under the Angat Bayanihan Volunteer Network.
“Saludo kami sa inyong tapang, malasakit, at pagmamahal sa bayan. Salamat sa pagtindig! ✊🏼,” Angat Buhay posted on social media at that time, commending Anne and the other stars who were present at the protest.
After attending the Trillion Peso March, Anne took to social media to share a message urging her Filipino fellows to continue fighting against corruption.
“PILIPINAS, PIPILIIN KA SA ARAW-ARAW. With fire in our hearts and love for the Philippines in our souls, we marched. May this be the generation that breaks the chains of corruption— It must end. What was stolen was never theirs to keep, but ours to build the Philippines we love and the future we deserve… I pray our children inherit a nation honest, thriving, and worthy of their dreams. Let’s not stay quiet until corruption ends!” she posted on her Instagram page.
Anne also earlier voiced out her disappointment regarding the corruption in flood control projects after watching a report of Jessica Soho.
“When Mam @KM_JessicaSoho said, ‘Hindi na pala baha ang magpapalubog aa ating bayan kungdi kasakiman,’ sakit 😞😞,” the actress wrote on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). (Toff C. /push.com)
