In a sterling display of leadership, the United Filipino Canadian Associations in BC has thrown its support behind a plan to expedite the delivery of a Filipino cultural centre in Vancouver.

UFCABC declared in a statement that it is endorsing a motion by Vancouver Mayor Ken Sim to facilitate a Filipino cultural centre in the neighbourhood of Mount Pleasant.

Mayor Sim’s motion is up for deliberation by city council in the coming days.

UFCABC represents the broadest unity in the Filipino community as an aggrupation of grassroots organizations across the province.

UFCABC president Christian Cunanan signed the statement, thanking Mayor Sim for recognizing the importance of a dedicated cultural space for the community.

Mayor Sim is presenting the motion together with Councillor Lenny Zhou.
