VICTORIA – Premier David Eby has issued the following statement marking Thanksgiving:
“People in British Columbia and across Canada will gather with family and friends today to celebrate
Thanksgiving, a holiday in which we give thanks for the bounty of the fall harvest. It is also a time to give
back to the community.
“We are blessed to live in so peaceful and beautiful a place as British Columbia. As we gather today, we
acknowledge and give thanks to those who contribute to making this province the incredible place it is.
Once again, we must thank wildfire personnel, volunteers and residents who stepped up to support
wildfire response and recovery.
“As wonderful as it is to live in British Columbia, global economic conditions place financial pressures on
many households here and around the world. Thank you to the many community organizations and
volunteers who have prepared meals for those who need them this weekend. Thanks also to all those
who support and donate to a food bank.
“Our government is committed to addressing the challenges people face so everyone can build a good
life in B.C. We have taken action to help ease the pressures of high prices from global inflation, so
people can keep more money in their pocket. We have also been working hard to ensure the security of
our food supply so British Columbians can enjoy healthy, delicious and nutritious foods in a time of
global instability. Look for the Buy BC label at your grocery store. You can also check online to see what’s
in season at https://buybc.gov.bc.ca/eat-local/whats-in-season/.
“Today, my family will share a wonderful meal featuring delicious British Columbia grown food. We will
offer thanks for all we have, knowing that the blessings we enjoy we wish for all.
“Thank you everyone who makes British Columbia an outstanding place to live. Happy Thanksgiving,
everyone!”
