In twilight’s hush, when shadows creep,
A steadfast vow my soul shall keep—
Not bonds that fade, nor ties that tire,
Such friends shall lift me evermore.

No whisper drains, no envy feeds,
These souls attend to nobler needs;
Their laughter rings, a silver chime,
Such friends shall lift me evermore.

When weary roads grow dark and long,
They guide my step with quiet song;
No poison thought, no bitter art,
Such friends shall lift me evermore.

They do not steal the light I bear,
But kindle brighter flames with care;
Their presence, like a lantern’s glow,
Such friends shall lift me evermore.

Ambition’s climb, though steep and vast,
Is gentler walked with friends steadfast;
Their voices urge, “Rise, do not fall,”
Such friends shall lift me evermore.

Aligned in truth, in values one,
We face the night, we greet the sun;
No fleeting mask, no hollow guise,
Such friends shall lift me evermore.

When tempests rage and doubts conspire,
They shield my hope, they guard desire;
Their counsel, calm as midnight seas,
Such friends shall lift me evermore.

Not chains that bind, but wings that free,
They shape the best of what I’ll be;
Their faith, a mirror clear and true,
Such friends shall lift me evermore.

And should the world grow cold, unkind,
Their warmth endures, a flame refined;
No hunger for my joy they show,
Such friends shall lift me evermore.

In every trial, hand in hand,
We build, we dream, we understand;
Their steps beside me, firm and sure,
Such friends shall lift me evermore.

O friendship rare, O bond divine,
No darker fate shall sever thine;
For in thy light, my spirit sees
Such friends shall lift me evermore.

Not weary hours, nor fleeting years,
Can dim the glow that still appears;
A covenant of souls aligned,
Such friends shall lift me evermore.

So let the heavens hear my plea—
These friends are life’s true victory;
Their love, my anchor and my shore,
Such friends shall lift me evermore. (MBB)
