MANILA — Actor James Reid is set to embark on a fresh chapter in his acting career as he teams up for the first time with actress Kathryn Bernardo in an upcoming project.

After years away from the teleserye spotlight, Reid admitted that stepping back into this space feels both exciting and challenging.

“I’m very excited and very blessed. Grabe yung support and it hasn’t even started shooting yet, so I’m very grateful. And I can’t wait to work with Kath. Very excited. Yeah, it’s something new and exciting,” Reid shared.

The actor revealed that collaborating with Bernardo has long been on his list.

“Actually, it’s something that I’ve wanted to do for a while. So I’m very grateful I get to work with Kathryn. She’s extremely talented. So it should be great,” he said.

Reid also reflected on the pressure of returning to the screen after nearly seven years since his last teleserye, noting: “It’s very new again. I’m still getting used to it. There’s always pressure, but pressure is good. It means people have high expectations, it means everyone’s very excited.”

While details about the Dreamscape Entertainment project remain under wraps, Reid kept fans intrigued.

“It’s something we’re going to work out along the way. It’s very exciting. It’s my first time working with another leading lady. So I’m trying to just give it my best, give it my all, and then see what happens. Hope for the best,” he added.

Kathryn Bernardo on working with James Reid: ‘I did not expect it !’

MANILA — With her eyes wide open and full smile, Kathryn Bernardo blurted out, “I did not expect this too, baka si James hindi niya rin in-expect,” when asked about the surprise announcement by Dreamscape Entertainment that she and James Reid will be collaborating on a TV series.

Fans described this as a “crossover of all crossovers” as they both came from different on-screen partners or in Philippine TV landscape terms, “love teams.” Reid used to be partnered with Nadine Lustre, while Bernardo used to work with Daniel Padilla.

“Sinabi ko rin sa kanya nung nag-shoot kami ng video for that look test, grabe who would have thought na after ilang years, we are both from different love teams, tapos now, comeback niya rin. Wala, posible na talaga ngayon. It’s exciting and it excites us,” said Bernardo.

It was Bernardo’s mom who broke the news to her that the announcement has already been made. “Nakakatuwa, kasi everyone is excited. Kasi matagal na rin my last teleserye and also with James, very refreshing hopefully, ang ganda ganda nung concept ng series na ito,” she said.

Bernardo also shared to ABS-CBN News that they’ve kept this project under wraps for months and now that it’s out there, fans are curious how the story will go, what genre, what material and will they be paired as a love team.

“It’s not a love team, it’s more partnership siya talaga. This is his comeback as well. Meron pa silang kailangang abangan sa kung sino ‘yung mga makakasama namin sa project,” she said.

She added, “Out of all the stories na they presented, parang this one na something na gusto kong gawin. It’s not just love story, it’s about friendship, family and it’s about women.”

But how was it like on the set — meeting Reid for the first time in a project and working with Dreamscape Entertainment again after more than a decade?

“Feeling ko first day ko sa class, kasi iba siyang group. Kasi Dreamscape sa kanila ako nagsimula, pero it’s been a decade I think since I did ‘Mara Clara’ with them. Second with James, first time ko siyang nakausap that long, and makilala. Nagkakapaan pa kami, pero definitely very excited din siya. Qe’ll start taping very very soon, next week,” she said.
