Vancouver, August 30, 2025. — Squeals of delight from the children filled the Upper Hall as the children lined up to eat the “doughnuts on a stick” contest, the first game for the back-to-school indoor picnic at St. Mary the Virgin South Hill church in East Vancouver.

The teachers and volunteers in the church’s Sunday school program prepared games, prizes and back-to-school goodies for all the children to greet the opening of school after the Labour Day weekend. Children took off their shoes, sweaters to make “The Longest Line” to beat their competition and finally lined up their bodies to win the game! The “Bring Me…” had the children running to get the items to the table – from lipstick to a bus card to bubble gum to a dog! A shower of quarters had the children on a quick scramble to pick up quarters off the floor. All of the children had notebooks, pencils and pens, and biscuits after the games.

A definite success with the happy faces of the children and their parents! Maraming salamat!
