“Thank you po for motivating me.”

Such comments were spotted on actor and TV host Edu Manzano‘s post, where he trolled the lavish lifestyles of some families of contractors involved in alleged fraudulent flood control projects.

The showbiz personality has been sharing manipulated images of himself in extravagant settings, including scenes where he is surrounded by luxury cars and shopping bags from high-end designer brands.

Among his latest posts is a Facebook status with the words:

“May Edu Fever na ba ang lahat? Goodnight, taxpayers! Alarm set na. Kakayod pa kayo bukas para sa luho namin.”

It was posted on the night of Sunday, August 31, before the next workweek officially began.

Edu’s post has garnered 91,000 laugh reactions, 1,500 shares, and 2,300 comments so far, with Filipinos fully embracing his joke.

“Thank you po for motivating me. I finally know my purpose,” a Facebook user wrote with a laughing emoji.

“Noted. Alarm set to 4:00 a.m.,” another commented.

“Already working na po for your luho. Will pay my tax on time as well, no worries,” a different Pinoy joked.

“Naka-alarm na po for Monday. We’ll keep grinding!” another quipped.

“Let them hear you, sir,” a different Pinoy said.

“Payslips out tomorrow! Looking forward to seeing the breakdown of my salary and taxes!!!” another joked.

Edu has also joked about wearing apparel worth millions of dollars, taking a swipe at singer-vlogger Claudine Co, who reportedly posted the price breakdowns of her designer outfits in the past.

Edu likewise posted an edited image of himself in a luxurious hotel suite, seemingly referencing the viral interview of the Discayas — whose companies were among those implicated in the alleged fraudulent flood control projects.

In the image, the actor is seated with coffee and croissants, a Rolls-Royce umbrella by his side — an accessory that eagle-eyed netizens quickly recognized.

“Good morning, mga taxpayers! Saturday morning, no site visit, no stress. Just Ladurée, a Rolls-Royce payong, and taxpayer money brewed to perfection,” he wrote before, adding hashtags #croissantoverconstruction and #morningfundedbythenation.

Pasig mayoralty aspirant Sarah Discaya, who lost the 2025 race, previously said she bought a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, reportedly worth P30 million to P60 million, because she liked the umbrella that came with it.

Meanwhile, Claudine is the daughter of a construction company owner whose firm was among those flagged by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. for bagging the most number of flood control projects in the country.

The contractors were those granted millions of funds by the Department of Public Works and Highways for the supposed construction of flood control projects.

However, most flood control projects initiated since 2022 lack key details, with 6,021 out of 9,855 failing to specify the type of structures built, according to Marcos.

This accounts for 61.1% of the total, representing P350 billion expenditure. The combined cost of these projects is about P545 billion, or roughly half a trillion pesos.

Claudine, who has since deactivated her Instagram and YouTube accounts, was among those criticized by Filipinos for her lavish lifestyle, with some connecting it to her family’s involvement as contractors granted funds by the government.
