Manila, Philippines- The Philippines swimming community has a new name to cheer for as JORAN PAUL OROGO, officially qualified for the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand. He secured the spot during the Philippine Aquatics National Tryout 2025 held on August 22-24, 2025 at Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, Malate, Manila.

Joran Paul stamped his mark in the pool with impressive performance in the backstroke category, clocking 26.05 seconds in the 50m backstroke and 56.67 seconds in the 100m backstroke. Both times not only surpassed the SEA Games qualifying time standards but also highlighted his readiness to compete.

At just 19 years of age, Joran Paul’s qualification is more than a personal triumph. It is significant milestone for Philippine swimming. His consistent training, discipline, and determination have carried him to this point, and now he will proudly carry the country’s flag at one of Southeast Asia’s most prestigious sporting events.

“Representing the Philippines is a dream come true. I’ve worked hard for this moment, and I am grateful for the chance to compete at the SEA Games. I will give my best to make our country proud,” Joran Paul shared after the trials.

The Philippine Aquatics Inc. has expressed strong confidence in its 2025 National Swimming Team, to reach the podium, noting that all 11 qualifiers (3 males and 8 females) exceeded the benchmark times set from the 32nd SEA Games, 6th place finish time held in Cambodia.  For Joran Paul, this means stepping into an arena filled with both opportunity and challenge, where his eyes are firmly set on pushing beyond personal bests and chasing podium finishes.

As the countdown to Bangkok begins, Joran Paul remains focused on rigorous training and fine tuning his race strategies. With the unwavering support of his coaches, family, and the Philippine Aquatics Inc, he is determined to bring pride to the nation and inspire the next generation of athletes.
