MANILA, Philippines — Despite the alarming result of her recent blood panel, Kris Aquino opts to trust Filipino doctors rather than take medicine that she is unsure of.
On Tuesday, Aug. 19, the former TV host and actress shared on Instagram that while preparing for her second dose of Rituximab, a strong immunosuppressant, one of her doctors saw an irregularity in her blood test and urged her to undergo further testing, including an ultrasound.
“With all my hospitalizations, I can already tell that I should start worrying when the senior technician is called in,” she wrote, explaining that despite already battling multiple autoimmune diseases, doctors discovered another life-threatening condition that required urgent attention.
“I had more tests today and three different specialists came to explain things to me and how important it was to not delay because I would be endangering my life further,” she added.
One of her doctors told her that he wouldn’t do any procedures unless necessary, but her team of experts have been discussing why she keeps getting “difficult to detect possible health time bombs not once but twice in her lifetime.” What they know for sure now is Aquino has developed an allergy to all blood thinners, making any procedure particularly risky.
In the midst of uncertainty, Aquino says she chooses to place her full confidence in the Filipino medical team handling her case.
“I had the non-invasive option explained to me, but I chose to literally trust Filipino doctors with my life rather than take medicine that I am unsure of, especially because I just finished a big dose of a strong immunosuppressant and I am continuing with two immunosuppressants and so much more supplements, antihistamines, and important vitamins.”
Aquino’s health update was accompanied by a photo taken from the hospital room, which also showed her son, Bimby, resting on a bed beside her. The mom of two said her youngest hasn’t been sleeping well since the night before her confinement while her eldest, Josh, had visited her.
The erstwhile Queen of All Media ended her post by asking for continued prayers for her doctors, nurses, and medical staff.
“Please don’t give up on praying because I draw strength from your kindness,” she said. (C. Alpad/ Manila Times
