Social media users are calling on the management of P-pop girl group BINI to take legal action against internet personality Christian Albert Gaza, also known as “Xian Gaza.”
The backlash came after Gaza claimed in Facebook posts on Wednesday, August 13, that a member of the girl group was sexually active. Many online users said his statements fueled sexualization and harassment of women.
“[T]his guy has crossed far too many boundaries. [C]alling on [BINI’s] management to take legal action and file criminal charges against this clout-chasing guy,” X (formerly Twitter) user @persiacutie said, while tagging the official account of BINI on the platform.
The online user added in a separate tweet that “a case must be filed and a warrant served” to hold Gaza accountable for his actions.
Another X user echoed the same sentiment, emphasizing that no actions being taken against Gaza would harm the girl group’s career.
“I hope you take legal actions [against] this person who causes nonstop online defamation,” the online user said.
“Filipinos are gullible when it comes to these kind[s] of posts and “chismis,” and this would keep on damaging BINI’s career if your management won’t do something about this,” the online user added.
BINI, known for their songs “Pantropiko,” “Salamin Salamin,” and “Karera,’’ has gained local and international recognition.
Other online users also tagged the official X accounts of Star Music PH, Star Magic and director Laurenti Dyogi, ABS-CBN’s TV Production head.
Meanwhile, some online users claimed that BINI’s management has not yet done anything to address issues surrounding the group.
“Hahanapin pa ba ‘yang management na ‘yan eh simula nung sumikat ang [BINI], parang wala namang aksyon ginawa mga ‘yan about sa mga ganitong issue daming ebas (sabi) sa [B]looms pero ‘silently’ working on ‘pag dating sa mga ganito…” one user tweeted.
Case to be filed?
On Thursday night, August 14, celebrity lawyer Josabeth Alonso posted an Instagram Story showing that the BINI camp filed a complaint against an unnamed party.
The post contained the full names of all eight BINI members. However, it did not mention any names or other details of the complaint.
Social media users speculated that the complaint might be against Gaza.
“Trusting the girls and their management with this one. Let’s go [BINI] karma!!!” an online user on X said while retweeting Cinema Bravo’s post on the screengrabbed Alonso’s Instagram story.
“I hope this complaint is for Christian Gaza and we’re grateful for immediate action by the management,” X user @cristiancofino said.
“Sobra na ang paggamit sa mga kababaihan sa kanyang social media account para lang may mapost. Hindi deserve ng kababaihan na mabunyag ang sex activities nito,” the online user added.
On Thursday, August 14, Gaza named the BINI members who might not be the group member he was referring to from his previous posts, instigating some online users to speculate on who it might be.
He was also recently criticized for raising speculations about social media influencer Bea Borres’ pregnancy a month before she confirmed it in her latest vlog. (Bianca Ysabel Abrencillo/ Interaksyon)
