OPEN INVITATION TO 2025 PINOY FIESTA: HULING HIRIT SA TAG-INIT
MGA KABABAYAN.
We are very happy to invite you to the annual celebration of Pinoy Fiesta: Huling Hirit sa Tag-init on August 31st, 2025 at Trout Lake Park (John Hendry Park), 3300 Victoria Drive (along 29th Avenue), Vancouver City, BC Canada.
Pinoy Fiesta is the longest-running Filipino festival, one of the biggest and the most anticipated summer cultural events in British Columbia. To commemorate this monumental celebration of Pinoy Fiesta, the Mayor of Vancouver originally and officially proclaimed “Filipino Fiesta Day” in the City of Vancouver in 2012.
We are supposed to cancel our event this year but after consultation with community organizations, leaders and members there’s an emerging needs of recovery and healing from the Lapu Lapu Festival tragedy by returning the community to what it was before. They requested us to go ahead with the celebration of Pinoy Fiesta.
The theme of the celebration is “The Sound and Light of Hope”. The community will be coming together with a unified purpose. We will embrace the difficult challenges we faced from the Lapu Lapu tragedy and move forward with hope and not backward with fear, disillusionment and division. We will reclaim the hope that was overshadowed by the tragedy.
In collaboration and coordination with the City of Vancouver’s Parks Board, Vancouver Police and various Filipino community organizations, we will celebrate our cultural festival back better, more safe and secure.
The Pinoy Fiesta will feature three colorful and meaningful program of activities:
- The Sound of Hope – will feature:
- Cultural Presentation – cultural groups will showcase colorful and culturally inspired dresses and costumes while dancing to the beat of drums or to the upbeat sound of ethnic/modern Filipino music.
- Concert at the Park – live entertainment by popular and talented singers, dancers and bands.
- The Light of Hope – will feature:
- Parade of Lights/ Lantern (Parol) Parade – cultural groups in their cultural attire, community organizations, individuals and the public will be joining the parade around the lake carrying their lanterns, parols which are illuminated with candles or battery operated lights.
The parade is in remembrance of the victims of Lapu Lapu Festival tragedy and a tribute to resilience of our community and to the profound purpose that can be found even in our struggles and celebrations.
- Movie at the Park – featuring a Filipino documentary film dealing with the different facet of foreign workers life and the mental health issues associated with it.
- Pinoy Fiesta Market – there will be various food, civic, business and commercial stallholders showcasing popular Filipino food, drinks, goods and services to the public
TARA NA! HIRIT NA! Yaya-in ang pamilya at mga kaibigan. Sumama at Makisaya sa Pinoy Fiesta: Huling Hirit sa Tag-init. This is our last summer event to gather together as a community and to proudly celebrate our beautiful culture. KITA KITS!
Proud Pinoy!
