MANILA, Philippines — Veteran showbiz columnist Cristy Fermin and her co-host Wendell Alvarez have posted bail for the libel cases filed by actress Bea Alonzo.

On her program “Cristy Ferminute,” Cristy said their other co-host, Rommell Chika, was absent from the show because he was still preparing his documents to post bail at Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 93.

She then showed documents to prove they had already posted bail.

Cristy said the warrant of arrest was dated July 21, but they only found out on July 30, after it had already been reported by social media and news outlets.

She also explained her usual practice of immediately posting bail even before a warrant is issued.

However, she said this was the first time they didn’t receive any resolution from the prosecutor’s office.

“First time po ito na wala kaming natanggap na resolusyon kaya nagkabiglaan,” she said.

Cristy added that she only learned about the warrant from entertainment writer Reggee Bonoan.

“Tinawagan lang po ako ng anak-anakan kong si Reggee Bonoan,” she shared, “kasi nakuha raw ng Inquirer.net ang balitang may warrant of arrest.”

“Nauna pa ang social media kaysa sa amin,” she added.

Cristy then showed the court documents to assure her supporters.

“Ang mahalaga po, mga Kapatid, ay narito na po,” she said. “May order na po ang Branch 93.”

She identified the judge as “Ma’am Cherry Chiara L. Hernando.”

Bea Alonzo filed the libel case against Cristy, Rommel and Wendell in May 2024, after her breakup with actor Dominic Roque.
