Surrey, BC – July 19, 2025 — The Surrey Public Library was transformed into a vibrant celebration of storytelling, music, and cultural pride during the official book launch of Jesse the Dragosaur, a heartwarming children’s book written by local author and illustrator Danvic Briones.
Hosted by award-winning broadcast journalist Rhea Santos, the event drew families, educators, and community members eager to meet the author and celebrate the release of his latest work. The event was graced by the presence of Vice Consul Mark Harder of the Philippine Consulate General in Vancouver, underscoring the strong support of the Filipino-Canadian community for homegrown literary talents.
Adding to the celebration was a special performance by Himig Kabataan Cultural Society, who delighted the audience with four traditional and contemporary Filipino songs, bridging generations through music. A highlight of the launch was a touching original song inspired by the book, composed and beautifully performed by young talents Aria Mesana and Mireia Cuenca.
Jesse the Dragosaur follows the story of a young creature who is part dragon, part dinosaur, on a journey of self-discovery, courage, and friendship. The book’s messages of identity and inclusion resonated with children and parents alike, reinforcing the importance of celebrating one’s uniqueness.
Danvic Briones shared heartfelt thanks to the attendees and supporters, noting that Jesse the Dragosaur was created to inspire children to embrace who they are and to spark imagination across cultures.
The launch event was not only a literary celebration but also a testament to the power of community, creativity, and cultural heritage coming together to inspire young minds.
Copies of Jesse the Dragosaur are now available at major bookstores and online retailers.
