Piano Recital & Lunch Party, June 28, 2025. – The students of Music Teacher Eiko Izeki demonstrated their piano skills at their piano recital held at the St. Mary the Virgin South Hill-Anglican Church.
The recital featured nine of Ms. Izeki’s students, ranging in age from 5 to 35. The recital was emceed by Joy Camangeg, the church Coordinator of the Youth and Young Adult Ministry.
The piano student performers and their music were CASPIAN (Church Bell, Oats & Beans, Pussy Willow and Waltz of Christmas Toys); MARCUS (Bee, Birch Canoe); KANAKO (Hen, Calico Cat, Playful Puppy, Porcupine Dance, Celebration); DAMIAN (Xylophone); MADOKA (Grieg’s Notturno Op.54,Debussy’s Doctor Gradus ad Parnassum, Chopin’s Etude#2); CAELAN (Dream Catcher, Clementi’s Sonatina G Major, and Chicago’s Colour My World with Grandpa Manny on the flute); DEMIEN (Star Quest); BRANDON (Liszt’s Liebestrum, Chopin’s Minut Waltz, Debussy’s Clair de Lune) and RAYAN (Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata, Chopin’s Nocturne op.9 no.2).
All the performers shared the joy of their piano performance with their families, friends, and guests. The first student, Caspian, expressed it all. He ended his performance with raised arms and a joyful shout, “I did it!”
It was indeed a celebration of music. Fr. Expedito Farinas, the rector of the church, said, “The students blessed us through their music! Bravo!”
Music teacher Eiko Izeki expressed her heartfelt thanks to the students, their parents, grandparents and friends for a wonderful morning of music, friendship and fellowship. She said that “the students have practised their music and have performed it for the public today. I am proud of them all, as I am sure my students are also proud of what they have done today. I know that music will be a part of their lives as they grow up and that is a wonderful gift to have.”
After the recital, students, their families and guests enjoyed delicious food in the Parish Hall.
Ms. Eiko Izeki is also the pianist at the St Mary the Virgin South Hill Church located at 808 East 50th Street in Vancouver.

Kingsway Deanery Summer Picnic, June 29, 2025. – The Sunday service celebrated Canada Day and Seafarers Sunday. After the singing of the Canadian national anthem “O Canada”, the congregation went to the Queen Elizabeth Park for the annual deanery picnic.
The congregation joined the other churches of the Kingsway Deanery for food, dancing and fellowship. The day was bright and sunny, the food shared was delicious, everyone had a chance to relax and meet the other congregations.
It was a fitting day to end the month of June and celebrate the birthday of Father Expedito Farinas! Happy Birthday, dear Rector of the Church! ###
