On June 22nd, Locks & Co. – INCLUSIVE. PROFESSIONAL. ELEVATED., a Vancouver hair salon and barbershop serving all hair textures, owned by Mike and Alicia, commemorated its grand opening with a fundraising initiative in support of the victims and families affected by the recent Lapu-Lapu Festival tragedy. The event was held with the support of family, friends, and members of the community, demonstrating a strong spirit of solidarity and compassion.
In the spirit of compassion and community, the newly launched business dedicated proceeds from their Coffee & Donut sales to the relief efforts, with donations coordinated by the United Filipino-Canadian Associations in British Columbia (UFCABC) and the Rotary Club of Vancouver Mountainview.

“We wanted to open our doors not just as a business, but as part of the community,” said Mike. “This fundraiser is our way of giving back and standing with the families who are going through so much.”
Sammie Jo Rumbaua of Mabuhay House Society shared, “We’re grateful for the overwhelming support I saw today. It shows what a fundraiser initiative to help can achieve when the community comes together for a great cause.”
UFCABC President Christian Cunanan expressed appreciation, stating, “This is what Bayanihan is all about. Thank you to Locks & Co. and all those who came out to show their love and support for the victims and their families.”
Thank you, Mike, Alicia, your families, friends, and community supporters for your kindness and commitment to giving back. Your efforts have made a lasting impact on those affected and reminds us of the power of community in times of need. Wishing you all the best on the journey ahead with your soon to be opened salon and barbershop business, may it be filled with success, growth, and continued blessings!
