Chilliwack, BC – The Filipino Association of Chilliwack (FILAC), proudly hosted a vibrant and heartwarming indoor celebration in honour of the 127th Anniversary of Philippine Independence Day on June 21, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Evergreen Hall.
The event brought together members of the Filipino Canadian Community across Chilliwack and surrounding areas for a day filled with culture, music, games, food, and fellowship. Highlights included a lively Singing Contest, bustling Tiangge (bazaar), traditional Pinoy games, and the election of new FILAC officers.
Attendees were treated to an exciting Singing Showdown, judged by distinguished guests: Maricris Pablico from Kelowna, Angelique Taco representing FILAC, and our very own Ms. Janice Lozano, fondly known as “Vancouvers Sweetheart of Songs.” Winners of the contest were:
• Second Runner-Up: Zsarina Concepcion
• First Runner-Up: Leo Echano Oñate
• Grand Champion: Edz Dulatre
The Tiangge featured a wide range of Filipino goods, crafts, and food, bringing a taste of home to the local community. With laughter, delicious dishes, and strong community spirit, the event was a true celebration of Filipino pride and freedom.
“We are thrilled with the overwhelming support and turnout,” said FILAC President Maria Kish. “It’s beautiful to see the community come together and celebrate our heritage with such joy.”
FILAC looks forward to more events celebrating Filipino culture and strengthening community bonds in Chilliwack.
