Here are some of the delegation highlights ahead of the journey back to B.C.:
- Meeting with Hanwha Ocean, a major South Korean shipbuilder and part of the Hanwha Group, specializes in LNG carriers, submarines, and offshore platforms. The company is exploring submarine procurement opportunities in Canada, with plans to localize benefits under the Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) program through partnerships with Indigenous groups and SMEs. B.C. has potential roles in technology, maintenance, and supply chains. The meeting included broader discussions around trade and investment collaboration.
- Visiting Shinsegae Department Store to see B.C. products in a South Korean retail market, highlighting growing international demand. The store features B.C. products including Nellie’s eco-friendly detergent, Lesley Stowe’s Raincoast Crisp Crackers, Real Earth Bounty’s chocolate snacks, and KANU instant coffee made with Swiss Water decaffeinated coffee beans.
- Touring the Incheon LNG Terminal – one of the world’s largest LNG import and regasification facilities operated by KOGAS. The terminal plays a pivotal role in South Korea’s energy infrastructure, supplying natural gas to power plants and residential areas.
We will have further post-mission communications that we will share in the coming days.
