VANCOUVER, BC — On Sunday, May 25, community members from across Vancouver gathered at The Front Supply on Venables Street for HOMEGROWN — a heartfelt, family-friendly fundraiser in support of those affected by the tragic events during the Lapu-Lapu Day Festival in April. From 2 to 7 p.m., the space was filled with music, food, laughter, and solidarity, as locals came together to raise vital funds and celebrate Filipino culture.

The event featured live performances by talented local artists including Amalia Mamalia, Bella Roces, and Kaya Ko, with vibrant sets from DJs and Hosts of the Homegrown Event, Astra Certified, The Kuyas, Girls We Do Adore, Aux Cord Kids and Come Spin. Guests enjoyed a delicious spread of authentic Filipino dishes like lechon, lumpia, pancit, and BBQ—which were included in the 10$ Ticket Price.

With raffle prizes ranging from $150 Goodco gift cards to Live Nation concert tickets, Arc’teryx apparel, Blundstones, Beabadoobee and The Singer merch, and more, guests generously gave to support a meaningful cause. The community’s spirit of giving, combined with the generosity of sponsors and donors such as

Rains, Yerba Mate, Red Bull, Front Supply, Custom Event Rentals, Kuys Lechon, Minuteman Press Kitsilano, KOTN, Patagonia, Australia Boot Company, LOJEL, GoodCo, Arc’teryx, Formula Fig, Blue Jay Rentals, Live Nation, The Printing House, Peak Performance, made the day a resounding success.

“The Lapu-Lapu tragedy is a  reminder that we’re all connected — in grief, in hope, and in humanity”, Organizer Nick Mateo said, “Moments like this show us that, at the heart of it all, we’re one big family.

All proceeds from HOMEGROWN will be donated to the United Way Kapwa Strong Fund, which is supporting recovery and relief efforts for families impacted by the Lapu-Lapu tragedy.

“This was more than just an event—it was a moment of unity, strength, and compassion,” added Abi Clarke co-organizer. “Everyone showed up with heart, and we’re grateful for every person who helped make it possible.”

The event organizers would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the friends, family, and community members who generously volunteered their time, energy, and talents to make this event possible. Your support, kindness, and teamwork brought this vision to life, and we are deeply thankful.
