
Christian Cunanan
WRITER / COLUMNIST [BC]
Christian Cunanan is a Filipino-Canadian columnist, photojournalist, and community leader who combines his work in media with active involvement in community service. Through his writing and leadership, he helps promote Filipino culture, support community initiatives, and raise awareness on important social issues. He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from Adamson University and works as a CNC Programmer/Machinist in Langley, BC.
Christian currently serves as President of the United Filipino Canadian Association in BC (UFCA BC: 2024 – 2026), an umbrella organization representing more than 60 Filipino-Canadian groups across the province. UFCABC hosts four flagship annual events: Benson Flores Day in April, honoring the first known Filipino in Canada; the Flag Raising and Community Fiesta in early June to mark the start of Filipino Heritage Month; the Heritage Gala celebrating June as Filipino Heritage Month in Canada; and Pista ng Bayan in August, one of the largest public Filipino festivals in downtown Vancouver.
Prior to UFCABC, Christian served as President of the Circulo Pampangueno Association in BC from 2017 to 2020, where he led a number of charitable and cultural initiatives benefiting both local communities and the Philippines. The organization, one of the longest-running Filipino Canadian associations in BC, is set to celebrate its 40th anniversary in 2025.
